Cheetah Soft Release Boma

A soft release boma will be prepared for the establishment of cheetahs in Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, in which the cheetahs will be kept under monitoring for some time until they are fully acclimatized to the environment here. Once the management is satisfied that they have adapted to VDTR and the conditions are suitable for release into the open area, they will be released into the open.

A total of 10-feet-high predator-proof / anti-predator fencing will be installed all around the boma. Its features will be as follows:

1. Electric Fence System
   • Each CHS post will be given a 2-feet Angle Extension, on which 6 electrified pulse wires will be fitted.
   • This will act as a safe deterrent for other predatory animals so that they cannot enter inside.
2. High Galvanized Honeycomb Mesh (Iron Fence Fabric)
   • This 8-feet-high heavy galvanized Fence Fabric with a honeycomb (beehive-like) weave pattern will provide strength.
   • It has been specially designed to withstand the forest environment for a long duration.
3. PCC Beam Foundation
   • The base of the boma will be built with a Reinforced Concrete beam, and the fence fabric will be fitted directly into the PCC.
   • This will prevent burrowing animals such as wild boars from making a way underneath the fence.
